In a letter to Lauris dated [Saturday 13 March 1915] (CP 02927; Kolb, XIV, no. 38), Proust, who had just seen the announcement of his death in the Figaro "understood that he would never see Bertrand again" and that to publish such an announcement "they must have been sure".
