Boulevard Béranger in Tours is, like many other streets bearing his name, a tribute to the poet and song writer Pierre-Jean de Béranger and an indication of his great celebrity throughout the 19th century. With his pamphlets and his patriotic, revolutionary songs, between 1815 and 1848, he long represented the voice of the people, the "man of the nation".
