The same act of military heroism was reported briefly in Le Journal and L'Intransigeant 15 November. In a letter written to D. Halévy written immediately after reading this article (CP 02842, Kolb, XIII, no. 192), Proust confessed that he had wept after this moving account. [PK, CSz]
