Je soussigné<ref name="n1" />, médecin à l'Hôpital Beaujon<ref name="n2" />, certifie avoir donné mes soins à plusieurs reprises<ref name="n3" />, depuis une quinzaine d'années, à Monsieur Marcel Proust, pour un asthme qui donnait lieu à des accès de dyspnée tellement violents, tellement percutants et d'une durée si longue, qu'il est obligé de passer la majeure partie de son temps au lit ou à la chambre, et qu'il lui était interdit de se livrer à des occupations régulières. Comme conséquences de sa maladie et des médications auxquelles il est soumis d'une manière à peu près continue, M. Marcel Proust était sujet en outre à des troubles nerveux pérennes et présentait notamment un état d'asthénie, qui suffisait pour lui imposer l'immobilité. J'estime qu'il est incapable de supporter la moindre fatigue et qu'il est inapte à toute espèce de service.
I the undersigned<ref name="n1" />, being a doctor at Beaujon Hospital<ref name="n2" />, certify to having given repeated medical attention<ref name="n3" />, over fifteen years, to Monsieur Marcel Proust, for an asthma that gave rise to bouts of dyspnoea of such violence, severity and persistence in duration, that he is obliged to spend most of his time in bed or in his bedroom, and which preclude him from engaging in regular occupation. As a consequence of his illness and the medications to which he is subjected almost continually, M. Marcel Proust has furthermore been subject to perennial nervous disorders and has demonstrated most notably a state of asthenia, sufficient to require complete immobility. I consider that he is incapable of withstanding the slightest fatigue and that he is unfit for any form of military service.
